Target Beauty Box Review - Spring 2015

Spring 2015 Target Beauty Box

The Target Beauty Box is released just about every season. It's not a recurring subscription, so it can only be purchased when it goes on sale on target.com. They tend to sell out pretty fast, so you'll need to get it quickly. I will post in the recent news section of the site when the next one becomes available. I'm almost caught up with all my reviews. This one is a bit late, but here it is.

Spring 2015 Target Beauty Box Detail Card

The box comes with a card detailing all of the products and how to use them. There's also a $3 off $15 coupon for Target's Beauty Department.

Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip Color

Product: Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip Color
Retail Value: $5.49 (Full Size)

I'm not sure if there's any variations in the box, but the color I received is Rose Redefined. I looked through all of the available colors, and this is the shade I would've chosen had I purchased it. This lip color is a "3-in-1" combo of lipstick, balm, and gloss. I really like this shade. It's got just enough pigmentation but still subtle enough for a more natural look. The texture is slightly sticky, but feels moisturizing.

L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set and TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Hold Hairspray

Product: L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set
Retail Value: $13.29 (Full Size)

The Infallible Pro-Spray & Set is a lightweight spray that locks-in makeup for all-day extended wear. I have to admit I don't like to spray anything on my face because I'll either breathe it in too much, or accidentally get it in my eye. Here's the instructions for this spray: hold 8" to 10" away, close eyes, and spray 4 to 6 times in a X & T motion. I sprayed a little on my hand, and it does feel nice and light. However, I'd like it more if the mist was finer. Someone mentioned it held their makeup well for 12 hours, so I'm thinking it would be great for brides!

Product: TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Hold Hairspray (1.5 oz)
Retail Value: $1.47

Target sells this hairspray in the 1.5 oz spray can, which I assume is a trial size. I don't use hairspray much, if at all, but I tried it so I can test it out. There is some stiffness to my hair and I am not surprised. It claims to hold without making your hair stiff, and I don't know how they can accomplish that. If your hair is not the slightest bit stiff, then how would it hold its form. It would just fall naturally from gravity.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream

Product: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream (0.25 oz)
Retail Value: $2.65

Formulated with hyaluronic acid, the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream hydrates extra-dry skin by instantly moisturizing it and strengthening skin's moisture barrier. It's fragrance-free so there's no scent to it. The cream is light and non greasy, however, I'm not sure it's as moisturizing as it claims.

SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo

Product: SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo (3.2 oz)
Retail Value: $2.71

I like SheaMoisture products, so I was excited to try out the shampoo. Some people complained that this product leaves some residue, but I didn't have any issues at all. My hair feels soft and I like the sweet scent. So far, I like this shampoo.

Final Thoughts: Target marketed this box with a value of $38. Based on my calculation, it's right around $25. Although it isn't exactly advertised value, for a $5 box with free shipping, I don't have much to complain. There's a good variety of beauty products with decent sizes. In fact, two of the items are full-size products. Coincidentally, my mom was looking to pick up some hairspray, so I gave her the one included. I think this was a great box!
